Tenerife is the largest and most popular of the Canary Islands – the island is host to over 3 million tourists each year.
Tenerife has led the way with regard to property investments in the Canary Islands and now has a relatively large expat community, particularly in the south west around Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. Tenerife offers the best potential for rental income and boasts a mature rental market, particularly in the south around the resorts of Las Americas, Golf del Sur and Los Cristianos. Due to the all-year round warm climate, the rental season is 12 months.
As an island offering a delightful hybrid of English and Spanish cultures, approximately 7% of all residents are from overseas with a large percentage of British retirees. An excellent English School is located in Puerto de la Cruz.
The island’s stunning landscape includes:
- Mount Teide - the world’s 3rd largest volcano (dormant) which can be viewed from the African Coast
- Miles of black sand beaches
- The lush Orotava valley, home to botanic gardens and banana plantations
There are numerous budget flights – just 5 hours from the UK with no time difference (or jet lag!)
