Tenerife has led the way with regard to property investments in the Canary Islands and now has a relatively large expat community, particularly in the south west around Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. Tenerife offers the best potential for rental income and boasts a mature rental market, particularly in the south around the resorts of Las Americas, Golf del Sur and Los Cristianos. Due to the all-year round warm climate, the rental season is 12 months.

As an island offering a delightful hybrid of English and Spanish cultures, approximately 7% of all residents are from overseas with a large percentage of British retirees. An excellent English School is located in Puerto de la Cruz.

The island’s stunning landscape includes:

  • Mount Teide - the world’s 3rd largest volcano (dormant) which can be viewed from the African Coast
  • Miles of black sand beaches
  • The lush Orotava valley, home to botanic gardens and banana plantations

GETTING THERE

There are numerous budget flights – just 5 hours from the UK with no time difference (or jet lag!)

Discount airline Ryanair offers flights from London Luton and Stansted, Birmingham, Bournemouth, East Midlands, Liverpool and a variety of other European cities. Try EasyJet for flights from London Gatwick, Bristol and Manchester.

CLIMATE

In Tenerife summer temperatures average 24º C (75 ºF) and its winter temperatures average 18º C (64 ºF). However, Mount Teide does create a number of micro climates.
