- Costa Almeria
Costa Almeria is located between the costas of Calida and del Sol in the southern Mediterranean. Named the "garden of Spain", the Costa Almeria is one of the least developed areas of the Spanish coast and is home to large areas of open countryside, unspoilt fishing villages and mountain villages.
Real Estate Market
As investors have begun to discover the region property prices have increased steadily but are still below prices in the neighbouring coastal regions. However, local planning regulations have ensured that growth is managed carefully in order to preserve the environment. Accordingly, Costa Almeria will remain an excellent location for an unspoilt holiday home investment.
The region offers a fascinating and diverse landscape. The inland depicts a lunar landscape of desert and sandstone often pictured in famous Hollywood westerns. The coast offers golden beaches in Mojacar, Vera Playa and Puerto Rey along with the whitewashed villages of Mojacar Pueblo and Bedar in Moorish style.
In the winter skiing is possible in Sierra Nevada just 2 hours away.
The region boasts an all-year sunny climate with over 320 days of sunshine a year. Average temperatures are 20º C (68º F) peaking at 25°C (77º F) in the summer. Winters are some of the mildest in Spain.
Currently the region is served by 3 international airports: Almeria (drive = 45 mins) Alicante (1hr 45 mins) Murcia-San Javier (1hr 30mins) Murcia - the new International Airport at Corvera will be open sometime in 2011! (about 1 hour)
